Admissions Information for Fall 2017

Interested in a tour of the lower school? Please contact the admissions office to arrange your visit.

Families who wish to apply should submit a completed application for their child, along with a non-refundable $50 application fee. Please consult the admissions calendar at the bottom of this page for important dates and deadlines.

After submitting an application, families should make arrangements with a qualified psychologist or licensed testing center to administer the appropriate test to their child, as indicated below:

Students applying to enter Kindergarten and First Grade, who are younger than seven, should take the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI-IV).

Students who are seven or older applying to enter First through Fifth Grades should take the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-V).

If you are having the test administered at another independent school, please request that school to furnish a copy of the results as soon as they are available. Test results for kindergarten applications should be submitted to Sabot at Stony Point no later than Tuesday, January 31, 2017. Testing for applicants to other grades should be submitted as soon as possible.

We suggest families contact one of the following centers: (Please do not delay in arranging for testing. The admissions season is a busy time and appointments may be difficult to secure later in the season.)

School Visits

Applicants to kindergarten will be scheduled to attend a classroom visit on a Saturday morning in January 2017.

The children will participate in various activities with members of our lower school faculty. Parents will attend a brief parallel session and then join their children in the classrooms.

Students applying to enter First through Fifth Grades will be individually scheduled to spend a day in class with prospective classmates. Academic assessments will be administered during this visit.

Admissions Decision

Kindergarten admissions decisions will be communicated to families on February 18, 2017. Decisions for applicants to other grades will be communicated beginning in March 2017, and will continue on a rolling basis throughout the spring and summer.

Parents of accepted students will receive an enrollment contract along with the decision letter. The signed contract, along with the appropriate deposit, should be returned to Sabot at Stony Point by the date indicated in order to reserve the student’s place for the coming year.
